2011 golden globe fashion winners

here were several trends on view on the gowns at the 2011 Golden Globes, chief among them the prevalence of emerald greens, pale pinks and fire engine reds. But for all the zigs in one direction, there were a few notable zags away from the pack, such as Helena Bonham Carter’s mismatched shoes and Christina Aguilera’s peek-a-boo lace dress.

2011 golden globe fashion worst dressed Females

Hopefully, you've already checked out our list of the top 10 best dressed ladies from the 2010 “Golden Globes” (if you haven't, what are you waiting for?!). Anyways, it was hard to pick out 10 favorites from the “Globes,” but as usual it was easy, perhaps too easy, to pick out the night's worsts. Let us first start with one deep and thought provoking question –Cher, what were you thinking?! The Herve Leger gown (skin tight as it might have been) was still elegant, the capped sleeves were cute, the jewelry worked and the pulled back hair was classy. We have more to say about this (so much more), but we've already dedicated an entire post to Mariah's low-cut “Globes” dress, which you can check out here. We weren't expecting Diane Kruger to earn a place on our worst dressed list. Yet, when the “Inglorious Bastard's” star showed up to the Globes red carpet in a pink Christian Laxroix gown, which featured big pleats around the neckline and a white bow-tie at the waist, well, we simply couldn't deny her a spot. The black and white snakeskin print gown, which might have been better if it didn't stop short of her ankles (there's a reason cropped pants aren't in fashion right now), paired with an umbrella, totally made Tina look like the next Mary Poppins. Tina, we hope you're laughing with us... Cameron Diaz was another red carpet fail last night. Cameron, who presented at the “Globes,” wore a completely unremarkable red satin Alexandar McQueen dress, which she paired with completely unremarkable black Ferragamo pumps. A red dress and black pumps? Now, we actually liked Kristen Bell's hair at the "Globes" last night, but the outfit left a lot to be desired. Kristen showed up to the red carpet in a knee-length, white Jasmine Di Milo dress, which, hard as we tried, we just couldn't love. While we're willing to give Kristen a little credit for being one of the few ladies to wear a shorter dress, the strapless ensemble with a bow near the waist-area, felt a bit too prom-ish for our taste. Rita Wilson almost had the right idea. The light lavender dress flattered her figure, and the jewelry looked great, but we just couldn't get over the floral print. Consider it a lesson ladies, if the print on your dress is even slightly reminsicent of a bedsheet (or curtains for that matter), put it down and walk away. Anna's dress was way over the top but that wasn't even the worst part. The shoes, which mind you, totally did not go with the dress. In fact, they were the absolute worst shoes to pick with that dress. So Anna, if you're reading this, we still love you, we just don't love your dress. Jan we actually kind of liked your black Lanvin dress. Case in point, Carey Mulligan, whose head accesory helped her rank as one of our best dressed girls of the “Globes.” Fergie's strapless Elie Saab gown wasn't terrible, in fact, we thought the light perwinkle color was kind of nice, but her hair and makeup needed a lot of work.there are the picture:

ABSOLUTE BEST DRESSED:
-Sofia Vergara was "stunning" in red on the red carpet wearing Vera Wang. Mercado said, "I loved everything about her look, especially her bold choice of jewelry...white! She's FIERCE!"
-Jennifer Lawrence ("Winter's Bone") in Louis Vuitton with Chopard Jewelry. She went with black, which doesn't photograph well, but the dress is stunning. Mercado said he would have liked it better without the straps.
-January Jones was "ravishing" in a modern fringe dress by Versace. This was her first time wearing red on the Red Carpet and she looked stunning," Mercado said, adding, "and the body on her!"
-Angelina Jolie in stunning green Versace. "Absolutely breathtaking"
ABSOLUTE WORST DRESSED:
-Helena Bonham Carter. "Words cannot describe" her Vivienne Westwood dress, Mercado said. "Two different colored shoes and the sunglasses... OMG!!!"
-Katie Lee. "Citrus is a huge color for Spring/Summer but she just looked wrong!"
-Julianne Moore, in not-so-hot pink
BEST DRESSED:
-Anne Hathaway tops Mercado's list, wearing a backless sequin gown by Armani
-Amber Riley ("Glee"). "One of my favorite plus size on the red carpet," he said. "Stunning in metallic."
-Natalie Portman was pretty in pink, wearing Viktor & Rolf with a whimsy flower detail and sporting a "Black Swan"-inspired updo.
-Julie Bowen ("Modern Family") in a champagne Tadashi Shoji gown
-Eva Longoria in a black Zac Posen cap-sleeved fishtail gown
-Lea Michele, wearing pink Oscar De La Renta and a stunning updo
-Catherine Zeta-Jones, in a strapless green in Monique Lhuillier stunner
-Mila Kunis in asymmetric green
-Sofia Vergara
-Angelina Jolie
WORST DRESSED
-Helena Bonham Carter
-Katie Lee
-Julianne Moore
-Leighton Meester "looked like she is trying to bring tie-die back."
-Nicole Kidman in a creamy, asymmetric sequin gown. "The color of the gown did nothing for her."
-Jennifer Love Hewitt in Romona Keveza - "very bridal, which is what Romona is known for."
-Emma Stone was "boring" wearing Calvin Klein Collection - "Way to peachy for me!"
-Claire Danes in Calvin Klein collection - as if we needed another peach dress from the same designer. "I just didn't find it flattering," Mercado said.
-Piper Perabo was boring in black Oscar De La Renta. "Loved the hair but the dress made her hips look wide."
-Michele Williams. "I love her tons, but the dress was lacking so much," Mercado said.
-Sandra Bullock. "Hate the hair and the dress was so not flattering on her."
-Tilda Swinton. "She continues to disappoint."
ON THE FENCE:
-Halle Berry in black Nina Ricci. "The underwear/high low thing has me confused."
-Jennifer Lopez wearing white Grecian Zuhair Murad gown... I loved the dress but not sure about sheer shawl, but I do love the bead work
-Christina Aguilera, also wearing Zuhair Murad, "looked lie Jessica Rabbit gone wild!"
-Scarlett Johansson. "While the dress was beautiful, I just didn't like it on her... the hair, the butterfly wings... there were so many things going on it was too much for my fashionable eyes," Mercado said.
-Olivia Wilde was "a bit overdressed" for the Golden Globes in Marchesa. "The hair looked a bit undone and her gold Chistian Louboutain shoes were way off in style and color."
-Heidi Klum. "All wrong!" he said. "The print, the color, the style."
-Christina Hendricks wore a popular color - red - but, "she is way to busty for that dress and the asymmetric floral strap looked as though she was being attached by it."
DAPPER MEN WHO MADE THE BOW TIE SEXY:
-Alec Baldwin
-Jim Parsons
-Chris Hemsworth
-Kevin Spacey
-Matt Bomer
-Jake Gyllenhaal
-Ryan Gosling
